Experienced Colorado Springs Shoulder Doctor
There’s nothing quite like waking up in the middle of the night, feeling like someone just socked you in the shoulder. For some, shoulder pain is a once in awhile occurrence, while for others it is a daily affair. The shoulder is a complicated joint, and there is a lot that can go wrong. Some say the shoulder is a ball in socket joint, while actually the shoulder is more like a golf ball on a golf tee. It takes a symphony of muscles and ligaments to conduct the shoulder through its full range of motion. If your shoulder has the slightest abnormality: rotator cuff tear, inflamed bursa, biceps insertion irritation, labral tear… , everything can get thrown off and your shoulder might hurt. Maybe you start having trouble putting your coat on, or heaven forbid you need to place something on the top shelf.
Colorado Springs Shoulder Doctor – Dr. Paull’s Advice
So what can you do about your shoulder pain? Maybe you have had shoulder pain for awhile and you have a MRI which shows that you have a rotator cuff tear and bursitis. Does every rotator cuff tear need surgery? Definitely not. That depends on the extent of the tear, how long it has been there, how much it bothers you, and whether you have tried everything else first. Fortunately, most people get better with steroid injections (to calm the inflammation down), and physical therapy (to retrain the muscles). The shoulder is a very nuanced joint, and it requires very nuanced care.
A Better Approach for Helping with Your Shoulder Pain
Despite the fact that the modern healthcare system wants a fast one size fits all solution, that is not the best way for you to get care. I don’t like the standard medical system because I don’t like 7 minute visits! I book my appointments for an hour, so I can get to know you, and you can get to know me. This will allow us to figure out what would be the best treatment for you. This is called relationship based medicine. Also, the fact that I’m mobile allows me to see you in your home environment so, as a committed shoulder doctor; I can provide personalized medical care. Everyone is different, and that needs to be taken into consideration. By us working together and establishing your goals, we will have a better shot at making you feel better!
